ART IN SHOPS APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED FOR 2025.

Art in Shops is an opportunity for you to display your work in Sherwood thanks to the kindness of many shops
making space in their windows. It transforms the area into an art gallery for a week, visible to pedestrians and from buses and cars. It not only gives you an opportunity to show your work but also to brighten up the area, show people what a creative place Sherwood is, and maybe encourage people to try the variety of art and craft projects which will be held over Sherwood Art Week. It also brings in visitors from across Nottingham and beyond.
Find out more about Art In Shops and apply to get involved below.
Applications to submit work must be received by 28th February.

About Art In Shops

You are invited to submit your artwork for Art in Shops 2025. This year it is taking place between Saturday 28th June to Sunday 6th July.  Please note the following information before applying:

  • A fee of £15 is payable as part of the application process.  If for any reason your application for Art in Shops cannot be accepted, your fee will be refunded in full.
  • Work must be set up no later than Friday 27th June and must remain in place throughout the week until at least 6.00pm on Sunday 6th July.
  • Artwork must be suitable for general public display to people of all ages, and must respect everyone in the community (e.g. no nudes).
  • This is not primarily a selling opportunity, although you will have your details from the application form displayed alongside your work.
  • You MUST be able to commit to displaying your work in your given venue for the duration of SAW, be responsible for connecting with your shop and discussing work and displays in advance once you have been allocated your venue (this is crucial as it can iron out any issues beforehand), putting up your work and also removing any work at the end.
  • It may also be possible for you to organise a ‘meet the artist’ in your venue if this is something you and your venue are happy with.
  • On the form you can give us any specific display issues you may have, and we will do our best to match your work with a suitable venue. You may be allocated part of a window to display in and this also may involve sharing with another artist. We may give an artist more than one venue (if available) if there is limited display for their work in one venue.
  • It is your responsibility to make sure your work is insured (not the shop's).
  • Please do not contact shops until asked by the Art in Shops Team.
  • Remember it is your responsibility, not the shop's, to sort out the display.
  • Sherwood Art Week is run entirely by volunteers.

Please fill out the form below if you would like to apply for Art in Shops.
